Working out a Full Timeline

I am trying to come up with a complete timeline for this class to get a better feel of what I need to work on more in the upcoming weeks. My overall plan was to try and work more into an animated background or landscape to test the overall scope of my learning with this new program. Creating an animated environment instead of working on direct character animation because my skills are not completely there yet but I want to try and see how many moving pieces I can put together to have an attempt at environmental storytelling.

Environmental storytelling is mostly used in games to evoke the feelings of a player to take note of how things work and what is going on without needing to use exposition. This style of storytelling is not just linked to playing video games but is used in animation as well to create compelling stories and to provoke the thoughts of the viewers in order to become more invested in the story and the world that they live in.

I still need to figure out what I want to be able to work on to turn in as my final project for this class but as of right now I do not have any examples to show  I definitely need to do more research in finding examples of environmental storytelling in 2D animation.

My Final project roadmap looks something like this.

  1. Find a reference object or picture that I would like to add animation to
  2. Brainstorm the story I want to tell in with my refence picture
  3. Create assets and backgrounds to be animated
  4. Refine assets and put the animation together
  5. Final project

Thinking about references I've always wanted to bring pictures to life with animation, and I think I am going to use Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water or something similar add motion through animation. I think that I will be able to learn a lot of things from this project I am shooting for the moon with this one and I will definitely have to learn a lot of new things about both animation and drawing,  but I think that I will be able to get a lot done with this project.

I think the challenge of creating a flowing water animation is already challenging and will be difficult to learn, but I also have to face challenges with learning new ways to draw.
