Practicing with Digital Animation 2

I have spent the last week practicing with Toon Boom Harmony to get more practice in using the program as well as working with my drawing skills. Using the second part of the tutorial I was able to create a simpler animation but this one tries to tell a simple story from a background I created in Procreate on my iPad.

I initially created this image in Procreate with the idea that I wanted to create a simple animation added to it in an attempt to give the image a simple story.

Using this as a background I was able to add a few elements to make the image come to life a little more I had to keep things a little simpler this week because I forgot to set the auto save on toon boom and lost a large chunk of the project. I wanted to take this image and add reason o why someone would be camping out in the middle of the woods at night so I added a meteor shower going on in the background and animated the campfire a little bit to bring the scene to life. The biggest part of animation itself is the story telling that can be done with such simple animation it just shows how powerful the medium actually is. I have watched tons of animated movies and television shows throughout my life and I have always noticed that the simple things are what makes the animation feel more alive then before.

I have a longer version of the gif itself but BlogSpot wasn't able to upload the whole thing.

I think I am learning more each week my goal for next week is to dive more into the fundamentals of animation and find some more in depth tutorials overall. I definitely need to up my drawing capabilities I'll probably try to find a tutorial on Udemy or something to brush up on my skills. I definitely want to be able to show off a simple character walk cycle for next week, but my overall goal is to create an animated cityscape at the end of this class with lots of moving pieces.
